What is a comic book sentry holder, and what does it protect against?▼
Our Sentry Holders are a durable shell made from 15 mil rigid vinyl. As a heavier, stiffer plastic than a standard bag, it holds its shape instead of bending or flexing the way a soft bag can. That rigidity protects against bent corners, fingerprints, dust, and the everyday wear that comes with handling. It's the perfect and simple extra layer for whenever a comic is getting passed around, propped in a comic book stand, or slotted into a display rack… anywhere handling or display would put a plain bag and board at risk.
Does a sentry holder replace my bag and board, or go over them?▼
A Sentry Holder isn't a substitute for a bag and board, it's an extra layer of sturdy protection. Bag and board your comic first, then slide it into the holder. The bag and board handle the everyday, direct protection, while the Sentry holder adds rigidity for extra handling, display, or peace of mind.
What size sentry holder do I need: Current, Silver, or Golden?▼
Sizing follows the same eras as our bags and boards. The Current Holder fits current bagged and boarded comics made after 1985 (up to 6 7/8 x 10 ½) . The Silver Holder fits silver bagged and boarded comics made between 1956 and 1984 (7 x 10 ½). And the Golden Holder is sized for Golden age comics made before 1955 (up to 7 3/4 x 10 ½).
What's the difference between a comic book holder and a frame holder?▼
The Sentry Holder is vinyl and built for everyday handling or display. A Frame Holder is a step up in materials and presentation: it's made from acrylic and seals with strong magnets, providing a polished look and superior protection. Frame holders are suited for comics you want to display long-term. With a built-in hanging tab, magnetic frame holders are a popular choice for mounting books on walls and a great addition to any collector’s showcase. They are available in current and silver age sizes.
Do you have a way to store or carry more than one comic at a time?▼
